Chicken Chhoila – Nepali Style Spicy Chicken Recipe
Introduction
Chicken Chhoila is a popular traditional dish from Nepal, especially from Newari cuisine. It is spicy, flavorful, and protein-rich. You can easily make restaurant-style Chicken Chhoila at home with this simple recipe.
Ingredients. 
Chicken – 500 gm (boiled and shredded)
Garlic – 5–6 cloves, minced
Ginger – 1 inch, minced
Green chili – 4–5, finely chopped
Red chili powder – 1–2 tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Mustard oil – 2–3 tbsp
Lemon juice – 2 tbsp
Salt – to taste
Coriander leaves – for garnish
Optional:
Black pepper – ½ tsp
Cumin powder – ¼ tsp
Method
Boil the Chicken
Clean the chicken and boil it in water until tender. Drain and let it cool.
Shred the Chicken
Shred the boiled chicken into small pieces using a fork or your hands.
Prepare the Masala
In a small bowl, mix minced garlic, ginger, green chili, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, black pepper, and cumin powder.
Mix Chicken with Masala
Combine the shredded chicken with the prepared masala. Add mustard oil and lemon juice, then mix thoroughly.
Rest for Flavors
Let the chicken sit for 10–15 minutes so the flavors are absorbed.
Garnish and Serve
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve. Traditionally, Chicken Chhoila is served with chiura (beaten rice) or hot rice.
Tips
Mustard oil gives the authentic Nepali flavor.

Do not overcook the chicken; keep it tender.
For extra spiciness, add more green chilies.
You can also adjust vegetables or spices according to taste.
